Obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information
Cause and Effect
In this task, students made connections between places in their community and their lives. The disappearing lake represented one part of the community and students were asked to make personal connections to other parts of the community. Specifically, students were asked to use landmark cards to discuss in small groups the places they like to go around their community and the things they do there.
In general, we see the student in this artifact navigate what happens in general in each of the locations. This student shows evidence of a general understanding of each place, providing a reason why they might go to this place, but the students’ responses make minimal direct connections to their lives (Samples A & B).
